From what I've read you can only use them on the back. Apparently they will interfere with the tie rod and brake rods up front.

"I make clamps just like the ones the vendors sell. # cars done that way and no sign of trouble.
It only takes a short time, an angle grinder, a couple of pieces of 1" (25mm) square steel stock, some drills and taps and a few bolts from the local bolt bloke and you're done." Synchro909

The above clamp setup Syncrho909 made sounds very similar to the set of tube shocks I bought from a retired machinist in Canada. Quality shocks, painted black, a bolt on clamp system for the front axle. Good delivery, quality and service plus were priced in CDN $.

No issues. Have them on the rear also. All good so far.

There-in lies the problem that I have experienced with original shocks. I have not seen any Model-A shocks that have truly been rebuilt, -or restored. To be rebuilt or restored, everything internally would need to be returned to factory specification(s). For the work involved to do that, ...and for the amounts being charged to be "rebuilt", my experiences are that most that I have seen appear to be cleaned well and repacked. That does work for a season however they do seem to leak again.
