I see your '32 sedan delivery is for sale for $125,000.00 and your '34 p/u is for sale for $70,000.00 on the HAMB.
I believe what you posted but find it hard to understand how you could be taking a loss on them.
In the big picture a $1,000 seat isn't that expensive when the car will probably sell for over $100,000.00.

I farmed out all the work on the delivery, pu and 5 window except the chassis. At that time I was to busy with customer chassis to take time to do any of the other work. I'm not a sheet metal fabricator, body man, painter or upholstery person and I'm willing to pay for a high degree of finish on what are probably the last cars I will build. Perhaps you are lucky enough to have these skills but my expertise is chassis and I stick to what I do best. I say built by Cornhusker Rod And Custom because the money came from my company to build them. Maybe I'm living in the dark ages with parts prices, we'll see.

If that much work was farmed out I can understand the costs.
From what I have seen having a car done by the heavy hitters these days can be way in excess of 250K +
You have some extraordinary cars and a great reputation.

I do everything myself, it is therapy for me.
My only outside vendor contact was Lebarron Bonney, and my glass guy.
Now that LB is gone I am finished building.
It's been fun.

Keeping receipts for all parts used, and outside work done is critical to justifying asking price for a vehicle. When we restored my '47 ragtop the total of these items came to just over $27,000, not counting labor of any kind. As for swap meets and flea markets, do your homework regarding any parts you are seeing. Most vendors are unable to answer your questions unless they are actually operating a business.

All you have to do is go to an auction that is selling early v8 stuff and you can witness the crap that is selling for big money. Brass T stuff is like gold. Black T stuff and most model A mechanical parts are not worth anything. What bothers me the most is these old guys that have buildings of parts and they die with it instead of selling it to someone that can use it.

The seller later paid for a stall at large area swap meet. Their presentation consisted of stacks of boxes crammed with random unmarked parts in the back of a rented truck. If they grossed $20, it would have been epic. Ultimately, the seller got the stuff listed with some outfit that seemed mainly focused on vintage clothing and home goods. In short, it didn't sell, there wasn't any mother lode, and there wasn't any gold.

This stuff should have been sold decades ago when any potential buyers were alive and the parts could have been used for vehicles that were still on the road. Alas.

If you do some checking I think that you will fine that V8-60 engine parts are not give away items. ( well maybe not the tin side blocks)
