I never consider the running gear when looking at an old car/truck, as yoou'lll probably have to replace it anyway. The frame and body is more expensive and harder to find, plus it takes more time. The running gear canbe replaced with up graded parts such as newer engine trans and brakes 12 volt electrical. But a pair of good rear fenders just can't be found, etc, etc.

I'm of the same mind as Gramps! I have tons of mechanical parts, but nice rear fenders for a jailbar tonner? Speaking of which, I'd love to see pics of the OP's 1 1/2 ton pickup. The tent and awning industry used aftermarket pickup boxes on the 131" and 157" heavy trucks. Wagner's FTS'05 shows many photos of such.
