Re: Vehicle Inspection I believe that a complete safety should be required yearly on all antique or classic cars. When you read on this site about farmer fixes, 50 year old weather cracked tires and many other idiotic repairs to cars you know many of them are unsafe. Get them safe or get them the hell off the road. Wayne

Re: Vehicle Inspection Sure glad I live in Tennessee. I walked into the county court clerks office and paid the tax on what I said I paid for my 31CCPU plus $25. for a good for life antique tag and I am done.
No inspection, accepted a Texas title and out the door. Took maybe ten minutes. Local cops honk and give me a thumbs up as I drive around town to the local Lowes, ice cream shop or Autozone. Life is great. |
Re: Vehicle Inspection When I got my sticker he looked at the steering wheel and asked me to drive it into the bay, then couldn't understand why I had to start it again to make wipers work, he took my word for it. They just do a safety check. Still costs 40 Bucks!

Re: Vehicle Inspection State required safety inspections are a revenue source.
As others have pointed out - if you are not doing the service yourself on a vehicle - you should be taking it to a mechanic who does. That mechanic is who should be doing your safety inspection. Jim |
