Re: Early 1930 Roadster Pictures

Well the body is now off the frame. (A few friends stopped by and I put them to work) :) I'm actually very surprised how good of shape its in given the condition of the body. I was able to find a number on the drivers side frame rail under the cowel. A3278473. Not surprising that the motor number is different but I'm still trying to figure out the date of production from this number. Any Ideas?

The original engine, A3278473, was built 4-28-30. So the car would
have been assembled a few months later. http://www.plucks329s.org/pdf/studie...n%20Charts.pdf

Thanks Bob, I appreciate the info! I'm guessing they didn't keep records on what body style was placed on each frame though.

Though the frame wasn't an exact copy of the earlier frames the early to near mid 1930 frames used the 1929 style emergency brake cross shaft. I know the earlier E brake shaft was used in march of 30 and probably until june when they changed to the round speedometer. The early 30 roadsters used two screws on the lower hinges. My later standard roadster has three screws on the lower hinge and a round speedometer but other than that it is pretty much like the early 30 models
