Too many guys attempt to bandage up some issues to avoid doing the necessary work and to avoid spending the necessary funds to do so. pretty amazing... do it right and a guy doesn't need "magic" water pumps, thermostats, etc. |
Re: I'm just so cool.... no really! Update:
Ok, it became obvious today as to why I have no heat in my car. Once I got the water drained down and pulled the top hoses, there are "NO" stats in the car!! I figured either no stats or that they were pushed up and turned sideways. I went to the local NAPA and told them exactly what I needed (Thanks to Prof. Henry), and the guy still ended up selling me the wrong stats and you Orielly had to order them from two different warehouses over two days! So, in 2 days I should have stats! Kevin |
Re: I'm just so cool.... no really! Just in case you get an auto parts guy who is part number challeged, just ask for the thermostat for a 1990 Subaru Justy.

Re: I'm just so cool.... no really! LOL, that's funny Prof. Henry. That is exactly what one of the guys said the NAPA # crossed to. They didn't have those in stock anyhow. So, I thought I would have the new stats back in it by now, but will have to wait 2 days.

Re: I'm just so cool.... no really! Just to close the loop - I spoke with Bob S about my "too cool" 180 stat issue and he sent me a fresh set of his stats without the 3 extra flow holes. We insatalled those units and presto - I was now running proper 175-180 range. I'll hang on to the other free flow set just in case things change in the summer. Bob S was super responsive and provided the new stats "no charge" which was amazing client service. For my application - I benefit from the extra "collar" that comes on his stats for good fit.
I've concluded that since my 35 Coupe is running squeaky clean 59A fresh block, skips pumps and a brand new repro radiator and 6 blade V8 truck fan - extra flow was not needed - at least in cool weather that is - we'll see how it goes in the summer! |
Re: I'm just so cool.... no really! Yeah, not a bad idea to hang on to them for summer to see what happens. As mentioned earlier up the post, my 47 didn't have any stats and ran normal this past summer but I needed heat for winter!
I will keep an eye on the temp next summer and if mine runs warm, I will just remove the stats until the next winter. Kevin |
Re: I'm just so cool.... no really! Do you know what year of trucks the fan blades would fit on a 47 car? Thanks,Moe

Re: I'm just so cool.... no really! Sorry can not advise application of the truck fan but here is how it looks on my Coupe before body drop and radiator install
