Hubert H. Humphrey
When Hubert Humphrey was Vice President of the United States, the Pikes Peak Chapter made him an honorary member. I thought there was an article in the Restorer at about the same time showing him with his Model A. The Restorer Index only lists the honorary membership. Does anyone else have a recollection of the Model A he owned and where it was pictured?
I am seeking unusual items for the Model A museum being built at Hickory Corners, MI and any help with this would be greatly appreciated. |

Re: Hubert H. Humphrey
That is when Pikes Peak made him an honorary member, there was one with a picture of him with his Model A, but I can't find that picture.

Re: Hubert H. Humphrey
I was born in Brevard county Florida. We have a large bridge that goes over the Indian River named after HHH. He got the Air Force and NASA together to agree to help fund the project because of the population boom in the area around the Space Center made the old 2 lane bridge inadequate at rush hour. A new 4 lane bridge was built in 1971.

Re: Hubert H. Humphrey
HHH has one rather modern looking 28 Phaeton there. What is that thing?

Re: Hubert H. Humphrey
Glassic #159 - a not very authentic reproduction of the 1931 180A. HHH donated it to the Minnesota Courage Center, which sold it on eBay in 2006 - it's currently owned by a private party in Vermont.

Re: Hubert H. Humphrey
There was a Glassic at Iola this year. I had seen pictures but had never seen one before. Look a little like an A but not much. At least they had it parked with the post war cars and didn't claim it to be anything but what it is.

Re: Hubert H. Humphrey
Glassic was originally built beginning in 1966 on an International Scout platform until 1971. 72-74 had a Ford 302 v8, co went bankrupt and came back as Replicar from 76-81, also with the Ford 302 v8. Total production was about 1620 cars.
