Does the horizontal stitched seam on the door panel upholstery taper slightly towards the rear or is it parallel to the door garnish trim panel - I have seen both styles on cars.
A couple of pictures would be great. Thanks, Chris.NZ. Last edited by swoopNZ; 07-28-2012 at 06:21 PM. |

Chris, I've never seen the panel taper down as you describe. The '38-'39 Ford book has pictures of both the Conv Cpe and Conv Sdn door panels, showing the horizontal strip starting midway at the latch, going straight across. The area below that panel is divided in three, the middle panel being almost twice the width of the outer panels. An armrest was standard on the driver side, optional on the passenger side.

Parallel certainly looks like the way to go.
Thanks, Chris.NZ. |

Mike,
I see where the seam starts just below 1/2 way down on the escutcheon. Thanks, Chris.NZ. |
