Talking Re: MTFCA classifieds and forum

"For those who understand, no explanation is necessary: for those who dont, no explanation is possible..."

Scratched albums used to skip, but CDs dont... yeah right.

The forum formatting over there is wayyyy beyond the great water pump debate, or 6V vs 12V.
I offered to help Chris out through this, but I feel like he put it up for a vote with the PAC MAN exspurts, and blew it off. My wife and I run a few (2) boating forums, uncensored and never encounter the problems they have. This forum is a V-bulletin host and ours are proboards.com. BTW, we have about 200 members.
And now, I feel an explanation is due on my part for my actions over there, which is more for the benefit of the lurkers here that are "in the club" over there and are affraid to show their hands over here.
For Jacks benefit Ill watch my language, but, after getting beat up over there for telling the 12 year old wizard off, I withdrew from participation. The two old timers that publicly castigated me were issued private messages from me telling them how I felt about that entire situation. My folks have both been dead for 30 + years and I dont take well to being lectured by some itinerate strangers. To add some icing to the cake, I probably fielded 15 emails from both sides that kudoed me for having the guts to tell it like it is. I dont usually mince words.
Sorry for getting OT on this. Enjoy the visit here and be safe! ws

Bill I have to agree with you but that's people for you. My Wife, who has no real T interest, has had a lot of (required) training in child abuse & internet business involving minors. She worked in a pre-school for years. I told her what was going on back when the kid was first contacted privately and that other genius sent him money. It was the first time she'd ever read a Forum posting. She said their both nuts and have no idea what their getting into (which at the time was true). I tried to warn one guy off politely and was told I was paranoid and to get lost. I opted to get lost and watch. Both claimed they had spoken to the parent by e-mail. (Just lucky his name wasn't Sgt. O'Malley). They couldn't possibly have known, at that time, who they were speaking to. I waited with baited breath as they insisted, despite warnings from others, that they were right and constantly mentioned the need to bring young people into the hobby as an excuse. To hell with the flippin' hobby if it requires me to privately contact some one claiming to be a minor that I don't know by e-mail. Never mind sending gifts! I admit I apologized after the pics were posted but the kids actions since the meeting reinforce my original feelings of no contact. Though they'll never admit it I think the contactors might feel the same way now too.

What I understand from Chris's postings on the MTFCA forum, they are trying to figure out a way to change. I agree that the forum software is old, but the problems lately are with the server, not the program. The biggest problem if they change the software would be the lose of all the archived posts. I can see their point on that, there is a tremendous amount of information and photos in all those posts and it would really be bad news not to be able to access that historical information. I'd say, get a better server now and then try to find a way to up-date but still keep the achieved information so we can assess it.

Ill agree with the archiving the old forum Roger, but try to search 10,000,000 posts with no method to the madness, and youd may as well contact the factory for rearend bearing clearances! Besides, sometimes its good to cull the herd...
On the kid thing, those old codgers that meant so well could be eating mcdonalds and sleeping on a steel bed. A shame that so much goodwill stuff is misconstrued as being "predatory activity" with merely good intentended people trying to help... this is the 90s afterall and NOT the 60s! As it is, I seriously think that kid is autistic or possibly has a form of tourettes syndrom, but since I never wrote my thesus on the subject, I never did earn my Phd, so I cant practise.
So all I can do is to sit back and smile while anderson and vanderoostenwaad call me names under baited breath; as tho my life came to a standstill. And with a bigg smily face, , all I can ad is that having had a total shoulder reconstruction last week, I am sore, so that means some oxycontin and a nap for a while... Ahhhh... ws

This is the 90's? Awesome! i want to go do all that fun stuff i missed out on, expose R.A.T.M. as an agent of the machine, save millions of people & buy all the old english cars for $100 that rusted away 15 years ago, fix them up & sell them at a HUGE profit!
