Are there any hints of its wartime experiences?
It would be neat if there was an indication of a charcoal fumes carburetor or rationing information. ;-)

Sorry Vince...It was March 23, 1931 according to Ford's records.

On February 23, 1931 engine numbers A4372621 through 4379623 were stamped at the Rouge and no "omitted numbers" were assigned that day.

OK...The "omitted numbers"...There was a lot of "omitted numbers" from the list of Model A engine numbers that were not used here in the USA. Ford sent these "omitted numbers" overseas for use over there. In March of 1931, 30,000 engine numbers were sent to Europe. These numbers were never used here in the states to my knowledge.
Ok, and out of all the Engine, do i belive there are a lot going to Copenhagen. This car is assampled on Ford Sydhavnen i Copenhagen..

There was a total of 143,992 numbers which were omitted from the USA useage during the 4 years of production.

Thanks Steve..!

The car was hidden in an old barn trough out the war, and was covered with old blankets an old timber. And was not out of barn under the war.....The first owner was an old Farmer, and he died in 1962. And in the familie there was only him there could drive the Model A.. So when hi died, the car " died " to...

Sorry Steve, but that is not correct.
The data I have seen on your web site in the past are not from the 'real originals', they are from the transcribed Rouge office ledger copies. I have reviewed all the original records, both the office ledger transcriptions and the shop floor foreman's daily logs numerous times in the last ten years.

Additionally, there is another set of production records in Charles Sorenson's communications files, which specifically document a lot of the details and production figures for engines and cars produced in europe. I have not yet gotten around to organizing and publishing that on my web site.

Unfortunately for engine production, the Archives sends out xeroxes of the secondary office transcriptions, which contain a number of errors and omissions compared to the original daily shop floor logs.

The 20,000 numbers from 4470001 to 4490000 were assigned to Manchester on February 23, 1931 by office administration. It was another month before the Rouge engine operations (shop floor) reached and 'skipped' over that block of numbers in their daily numbering operations (on March 23, 1931). Thus the confusion.

Model A and B Engine Production Data on Ford Garage

Interesting on that fact.

I understand that you go to the archives quite frequently.

Could you please send me copies of the "real originals" on this particular subject matter? That would be great for a better understanding on my part.

OR, maybe you have copies at your disposal.

Thanks Vince.

They sold the smallbore engine in France as well . I don't know what other European countries had it. Maybe Vince at the Ford Garage knows, The cylinder head is high compression and will fit on the 40hp block and is much sought after by the Hill climb crowd in England. Strangely enough if you wanted a new Model A with the smaller engine it cost more than the 40hp one!!!
The upholstery in your car looks like you might be able to save it. Le barron Bonney might sell something very similar by the metre. It's worth a try, they will send you samples if you ask .

GREAT car !!!
Keep it, just as it is. Do a little cleaning, stitching and some mechanical work and you will have the car that gets the most attention at a car show, etc.
Rub that original paint down with GIBBS OIL.

Mike, I will keep is this way. Repair the interior, get the painting repair some places..Today i have the car out in the sun, and on the front fenders is there more painting on the underside, and i think all the dust from all the years i a barn have hold dust wet/ dry so many times that the rust have free to attack the steel.. But no places have any kind of holes...It is so fine , so fine in all steel.. Dont have to weld any places, and there have never been welded on the car...
You mentioned " Gibbs Oil " I do not know this, did you have a link for that..??

That would be the original color of black on upper and Brewster Green on the lower part of the body. The stripe should be apple green. I think that was a great color on the sedans.
