YIKES!! been so busy the last week or so I cant believe it myself... 5-30 was the last post here! Been a little pre-occupied with Pat and myselfs doctor visits. Alls good there and Im having shoulder re-construction done this Thursday at dawn. All the blood lab work and MRI's that go with it then getting the Roamer ready and launched for use as a recovery site.
Mike G stopped by for a few short days here to run some parts halfway across the country. Thanks Mike, and thanks Andy!! Sure am glad I dont hafta start the Pollinator left handed! I do use my left thumb on the starter button tho... Took Mike for a spin and 38 mph on the GPS for a bit with plenty more throttle left for passing! We blasted by a Two Rivers cop doing radar, at 38 in a 45 zone and the guy gave me thumbs up. How cool is that?? Say its' true MIKE!!! You were there!! ![]() A note to the mods... If you havent been able to tell, theres a few people that are kinda up to here with some 13 year old kid. My apologies for going off on any previous threds here. Guys like Mike and I are the ones you love to hate, but this kid is the one I hate to love. Nuff said about that. I sure hope to be recovered enough to drive the Pollinator in the Trivvers July 4th parade this year, followed by a two block long car show downtown. That in itself doesnt sound like much, but its a big thing up here in a town of 10,000! Best to you guys.... YEEHAWWW!!! ws

Tomorrow is the day of big shoulders LOL... Gonna take the Pollinator out one last time to the doctors office this afternoon, then she gets put away for a few weeks...
On another note, Theres and "old Bus" forum that I check out. Stuff like old BlueBird and Greyhounds with big ol' GMC diesels. So today this post shows up. I almost tossed my salad when reading it! Sure is a smallllll worls aint it! Thanks J... ws "Well. The reason I don't feel like I belong here is exposure, something I need to keep my enthusiasm about the subject. I was obsessed with School Buses up since 2010, which was extremely strange. But School Buses I had exposure from riding one every day. One day back in Early 2011 I just got tired of School Buses. I feel like I am way more welcome than how I was to school buses. When I signed on to School Bus Central, a Forum on School Buses, I was mostly "cyber-bullied." Here, at the MTFCA, I am not. Just the people make me want to stay obsessed with Model T's, which I probably will, as long as I get exposure and to ride in one."

my newest t pal from town finally got his '22 (?) roadster on the road after 6 months. took off down the street, shifted into high, and, BANG! another pair of thrust bearings! just like mikes the other day. i must be dillusional... all that was left intact was a 25 cent piece of babbit and a pile of coffee grounds. took the ring and pinion along with it. actually it was probably gone since WWII !
WHEN IN DOUBT, inspect! ws

BOO HOO HOO... since the beginners board is still down, I feel compelled to ad to the roller thrust bearing conspiracy today. Seems like roller thrusts are NOT new... these were found in a diff today that was probably built around 1940. Found it interesting.

Bill,
It looks like the roller thrust bearings have undergon a genuine test. How were they once cleaned up? |

Those are "as found" and probably wont go any further than hanging on the wall. The cage with the balls runs between two doweled stationary rings and really kinda resembles the OEM thrust bearing at the spool.
If I hadnt withdrawn from the mtfca, I'd have posted that pic over there for the true exspurts to examine the unit under the electron microscope, then send it to the lab for some mass gas chromatigraph analysis with the results labeled as "rust". Hmmm. Love them rocket scientists over there. So much easier here to say... "look at the neat rusty thrust bearing I found." Actually, I'd give it a kerosene bath and hit it on the wire wheel and re-use it. I do feel it would limit the T to a safe speed of less than 75 mph. ws

Went junking yesterday on a farm where the guy has model A stuff, but buys T stuff when its a package deal. Lots of various types of 30 inch rims and wheels, front axles, a few diffs. some sheet metal (pre 26) and about 5 pretty nice, solid, TT wheels with rims and rings. A little pricey, but what aint when you need them? I think each complete wheel was $250. Also had a decent looking "economizer" carb. ws

SHOOT!!! Its been just shy of 2 months since I had the shoulder overhaul. Still doing therapy 1 - 2 X / week. Just did the 3rd set at home today and still only at about a (painful) 75%. However that didnt stop Pat and I from taking the Pollinator to a local show here today. There was about 30 or so 50s-80s (as in mustangs with NOX bottles- wipp-tee-doo!) with Jeff and us having the only Ts there. We lasted an hour and got back to the rod just in time to watch the paint melt and slide off. Ol Mr.Sun came out with his wife Humidity about 1000 so we left. Tomorrow theres a little better show in Manitowoc and its on the shaded streets instead of a football field.
So heres some pics showing off the LOSO Carrier on the back! $ lousy nuts on some U bolts did me in the other day... cant wait to return to normal! ws ![]() ![]()

Pretty good staus report this morning... After the TOTAL engine/trans overhaul last winter, I pulled the cover to adjust the bands after theyve finally sat-in. There was about 1/8 teaspoon of crud on the screen and another 1/8 TS of iron dust on the magnet. Pretty pleased with that! Originally filled it with 4 qts of 30W and havent had to add a drop yet!!! ws
