What is the best way to transport an open 1927 roadster to a car show with an open car trailer? I can't take the top off, and I don't want to use the car cover strapped down for fear of chaffing the paint. I am going to a car show about 2.5 hours away,and driving about 60 mph.

There are several things you can do;
- open the windshield - tie the hood down - you cannot trust the latches at that speed - put something heavy, properly wrapped, on the floor - floor boards & the mat will want to blow out - hopefully you have a top boot - make sure the straps are well fastened under the seat cushion - at 50 mph it will take 1/2 hour longer to get there but you will get there with a lot less strain on your T And yes, you are correct about the cover ruining the paint. |

Dennie,
Buy a roll of shrink wrap. Fold the top down and wrap it. It's also not a bad idea to wrap the windshield in it to protect from flying rocks. |

I used to tow my Model T Touring on an open trailer. And did many of the things Jack Innes mentioned (except open the windshield). You need to make sure the top boot is fastened to something solid under the seat and fastened well. If you have tools or any containers of water etc this will hold down the floorboards and mats. I never tied the hood (perhaps I was lucky), and would travel 3+ hours to Northern Vermont at highway speeds. LouB.
