New guy with a crusty, rusty, 1930 A
Hi everyone. Just recently found this place and wanted to say hello. I inherited a 1930 model A with the original title. It was and is still inside a chicken coop
On our family farm for a very long time. It's in terrible shape. I don't know much about these cars but I'm fairly certain I can't bring it back from the dead, so I may part it out. Any questions or information would be very welcome. I believe it is a sedan ( is that even a thing with these cars?). Thank you |

Yup, there is a two door and a four door sedan. You would be surprised how many chicken coop Model A's have been saved and restored.
Post a few photos and you will get a LOT of opinions. And welcome to Fordbarn! |

Welcome! Most of us are trying to make our cars new, and we're the crusty ones.
I wonder what Barner, has brought the worst rust pile back to life? |

Don't be too quick to part it out. Years ago I used to think a car was too far gone if it didn't have any paint or upholstery left on it, so I turned down a very solid Model A Coupe for $40.

This ones bad. Lots of rot, looks like it was half disassembled for some reason, motor looks incomplete, etc. but we will see, would definitely rather save her. I'll get pics asap |

2001GTTT,
A picture of it BEFORE you dig it out would be interesting to see. David Serrano |

First, Where the heck is Greensburg. I live in Bucks co. I'm restoring a 1930 fordor and maybe I could use some parts.

I remember a few years back here on the barn, a guy claimed he found a sedan in a barn on the family farm but he thought the top came down. It turned out to be an A400. Never did find out what happened to it. Frank

Re: New guy with a crusty, rusty, 1930 A
Welcome GT, If it is a tudor sedan most of the metal can be replaced with new patch panels or original metal when you find a donor car. If it is a fordoor then the problem will be more with the wood that supports the metal. Everything else can be bought at a swapmeet. So, my opinion is that you get the car out of the coop and take lots of pictures. Unless all of the wood and or metal is gone she can be saved.

Sorry about that, I'm not attuned to using a computer and Google is probably the last place I look. Well I am afraid Greensburg is a long long ride so I'll have to pass on it. Take a look at my profile (Click My Picture), Go to the album "My A" and scroll through it and see what a wreck I'm working on. It cam out of a barn in NJ. It too, was buried for years in all sorts of crud. I'm still not done with it. It shows what can be done. A word to the wise, Make the engine run if you can. Good Luck!
