Re: Australian Early Ford V8 Nationals 3-6 May 2024
Bill, You won't be disappointed visiting Australia. Unlike the USA, most of the population live along the east coast. You could fly to Melbourne, hire a car and attend the V8 Nationals then continue heading north to Sydney then up to Brisbane. From there you could travel further north to see the Great Barrier Reef. With our poor exchange rate, you get yourself a very cheap holiday. Regards Mercman <><

Thanks for the itinerary, sounds like a nice trip. I actually have many friends down under that I have never met, with my EFV8 and Plym Owners association I for sure would not be a stranger.. I also sold my '57 T-Bird. a harvest gold colored car that we had owned for 25 years to a man in Australia.

I'd love to come to Australia for that National Meet! I was there many years ago while aboard one of Uncle Sams US Navy Destroyers on an R&R cruise before returning to the states.

Trevor,
I'm thinking of returning to Australia in 2025, so I'll be sure to time it for a National Meet. Dave

Dave, Australian Early Ford V8 National Meets are only held every 2 years, shared by the 4 Australian Early Ford V8 Clubs. Following the 2024 event, organized by the Victorian RG151, the next one will be in 2026 hosted by the South Australia Early Ford V8 Club - RG94. Regards Trevor <><

You're killing me. I'd love to attend, but can only make one big V8 event a year. I really want to go to the Central National at the Foundation Museum.

Re: Australian Early Ford V8 Nationals 3-6 May 2024
Lawson, There are four Regional Groups of The Early Ford V8 Club of America in Australia. They are:- RG94 - South Australia. RG143 - New South Wales. RG151- Victoria and RG 157 - Queensland.
Because these Regional Groups are so spread out, it was decided back in 1988 at the first V8 Nationals to hold a V8 National Event every two years, arranged and sponsored by each Regional Group on a rotating basis. In 2022, the New South Wales Regional Group organised the Event. Next year, Victoria Regional Group is hosting the V8 Nationals in 2024 and the city chosen for this event is Echuca. Entrants from all Eastern States drive to these events. There was a comprehensive coverage of the 2022 V8 Nationals in the March/April 2023 issue of V8 Times. We refer to as the Nationals as we know it includes all four Regional groups. I hope that this answers your question. Regards Mercman <>< |

Re: Australian Early Ford V8 Nationals 3-6 May 2024
Hi Geoff, LHD in older cars is OK in Australia. The next V8 Nationals will be held in 2026 hosted by the South Australia Early Ford V8 Club. Not sure if Australia issues Temporary Permits for visiting cars, but back in 2011, the Packard Club held a driving tour around Tasmania and there were quite a few very impressive Packards that were brought over from New Zealand for the event. Echuca will be a great event if you can make it as a spectator. Regards Mercman <><

Re: Australian Early Ford V8 Nationals 3-6 May 2024
I,m doing some service work on the 34, engine oil and filter change, same in trans and rear axle, will repack front and rear wheel bearings, today I fixed a small leak one the radiator, over the weekend I will see if I have fixed it ,if not will pull the rad and send it away for a recore.
I have spoken the the rad man and he recons 3 days to turn it around. I also will adjust the steering box as it has about 2 in play , unlike my 33 that has none. I was going to put a USB plug in ,but as its still 6v will rely on charging my phone over night in the motels. As I said previously , the 34 has done hardly any miles over the last 3 yrs,so the 250 Ks over the weekend was a shakedown, Another big job is to make and fit a drink bottle holder. Looking forward to the trip. As my 34 uses fossil fuel ,I will be looking for this type of servo Lawrie |
