Champion 3X Plugs
I have a set of used Champion 3x plugs. The 3 on the plug has the round top 3 but the knurling is dimpled and short from the bottom. So has someone reproduced the plug the plug with the correct 3 or do I have and original set of tops on reproduction bases. As soon as I find my memory card, I'll post a picture.
Thanks

Re: Champion 3X Plugs
Years ago, the repo plugs were made with the correct " 3 ", but were short on the knurling. I have a number of those, one set unused. Gar Williams

Re: Champion 3X Plugs
Ok, that explains it. I knew it was an old set.

Re: Champion 3X Plugs
the round 3 with the knurling "NOT" to the bottom is for the MODEL "A" and "B" They are "NOT" REPRODUCTION. They are original,,, made in 1932 ! Yes the close to original base was and still being made and sold by Bratton's and others. I too took the 1932 tops and put them on the repro. base.We went over this about a month

Re: Champion 3X Plugs
Ok, here is your THIRD explanation! The lettering on the porcelain is quite red in color instead of the "orangeish" red found on production era plugs. It's my contention they were mid-late 30's. They however are not reproductions as the porcelains have the same bulbous shape as the early plugs which the "reintroduced" plugs never had.

https://www.fordbarn.com/forum/showthread.php?t=72470 As for "Is the dimpled knurling correct for these plugs?" they might be correct for the plug but not for judging.

Re: Champion 3X Plugs
Thanks Peter, Marco, and Mike. Peter's thread from May helped out. My plugs have the red writing and the same knurling that is shown in Photo #7 from Peter's thread.
Again thanks guys.
