Default A “thank you” is in order!

Just wanted to thank you guys quick for your help with my project. In the last year I went from knowing almost nothing about old Fords to, well, the pictures speak for themselves. Besides looking nice it also runs good, lol. I still have a few things to finish but it’s fairly close to being “done” if that’s even a thing...

And yes, it’s orange. Why? Well, in the fire service there is a lot of tradition. The motor was orange when I got the truck to work on, so orange it stays. If it’s any consolation, under the orange paint on the valve covers it was teal...

Ford used orange paint on their engines at least in 1955-57 in the cars. Don't know about the trucks.

Was the engine rebuilt? If so, why did you use the aftermarket oiler set-up?

For two reasons: one being tradition. The second being that when I pulled the rocker covers to adjust the valves I couldn’t believe how clean everything was and didn’t show any signs of wear. I figured if it ain’t broke...

I had nothing to do with your work and the "thank you" you are sending out, but let me say kudos to you on that engine detailing. Looks great!

Great job with the detailing! The before and after shots speak for themselves. Can I assume you did the wiring yourself? It's amazing how much they want for any kind of wiring kit now!

Thanks! It really is amazing how expensive they are. I ordered all the wire myself after drawing the schematic and just did it, I can’t remember how much it was for all the wire, fuse boxes, etc but it was definitely cheaper than a prefab harness.

I used Rust-Oleum BBQ paint, believe it or not. Brushed it on. I don’t have any appreciable miles on the truck since painting them but so far it’s holding up. I brushed it on with a foam brush and really let it soak in with two coats.
