I could but, I don't think I could paraphrase enough to get the message across. Pouring and boring babbitt bearings is an involved process and needs to be taught or learned up close and in person. I have done seminars and find most people don't have a clue how much work is involved much less the knowledge and experience needed. Besides, I don't type well enough to explain it here.

That would be kinda like having someone sit down and put into writing "How to Play the Piano".

I really don't have a secret recipe. It's not black magic or some kind of voodoo, I just make sure all the ingredients are correct. Tinning is the most important part for the front and center caps and the correct pouring temp is crucial. Make sure the block and caps are correctly preheated and it is just like pouring jello into cups. Either you got it right or you start over.

Machining the bearings is just like any other kind of machining. You have to be sure to watch what you do and not over cut or under cut anything. .001 can make or break a good babbitt job.

If someone came to my shop, I would be happy to let them watch me do a set of mains and try to do one so they can see what is what. I have no secrets.

Moreover, as they say in the states, a picture paints a 1000 words and you stand only to gain by displaying it here on the Ford Barn as well.
You seem to have no trouble writing detailed posts on a regular basis and
expect people to understand them.
Consequently, I don't understand your statements for something so simple as providing a few detailed pictures which would allow me to reach my own conclusion as I would if I were standing in your shop...

Many thanks in advance
Martin
I'll see what I can do over the next week, Martin.
