Default DURA-BUILT Engine Company?

While removing the carburetor, I found this on the front of the engine block. I've done a search for DURA-BUILT Engine Company and have only found the Incorporation records and a lawsuit that involved them. I can't tell if they built engines, parts or if they did the body mods to make it a fire engine (I've been corrected). Does anyone have something similar on their engine or know anything about DURA-BUILT?

Looks like they re-manufactured engines hence the specs on the tag. Maybe a Ford Authorized rebuilder ??

Agreed. Motor looks to be .080" over and rods and mains are .010" under

Dura=Built Flatheads were common around my neighborhood ( San Gabriel Valley) in the 50s and 60s.

Were Dura-Built building their own Flatheads or would it still be a Ford Flathead? The parts attached to it are Ford. The carburetor has the Ford script on it, as do some of the other parts. Again, I'm a Rookie and have just started digging into the engine.

With it being a Fire engine and started out on a Military base, maybe they had the engine beefed up some by Dura-Built? Just a thought...

Nope. Just a rebuilt Ford flathead that was done by Dura-Built. Back in the day, there were many outfits that rebuilt these motors and a lot of them would but a tag like yours so it could be identified (possibly warranty work if there was an issue) and the over and undersizes were usually stated.
