Default Hydraulic slaved clutch, how does it work?

I've seen a flathead using an 8BA bell with a 4 speed toploader with a hydraulic actuator attached to the clutch fork arm. What is the advantage, with the hydraulic actuator attached to the throw arm fork where does the linkage from the clutch pedal attach to? Will '39 pedals work with the late '49-'53 clutch fork arm without using this hydraulic cylinder?

The clutch pedal operates a master cylinder similar to a brake master cylinder. Hydraulic hose replaces clutch linkage. Saves a lot of fab work in certain situations. Also, there are some situations where it's nearly impossible to get the proper linkage leverage for easy clutch operation. Hope this helps.

Henry, thanks for the explanation. I need to find out if '39 clutch pedal can be made to actuate the clutch master cylinder.
