Default 56 Ford Car Steering Box ID

Going to rebuild the steering box in our daily driver and currently only car. It is 1956 Customline with original non-power steering 3 speed on the column with an Oct build date. Plan is just to pre-order all the hard parts so I can do the job over the weekend or as few days downtime as possible. Is there a way to identify it externally as to wether it is 2 or 3 tooth worm gear and sector.
