1934 clutch and pressure plate
I had the clutch and pressure plate out on my roadster and noticed they are way different than the '35 and up Fords. There and many more even spaced pressure plate bolt holes in the flywheel. Who sells rebuilt clutches and disc's for these. Can the later ones be interchanged ?

Re: 1934 clutch and pressure plate
Ft. Wayne was the second place I looked into. They only offer parts as far back as '37 according to their website. Thanks

Re: 1934 clutch and pressure plate
It's listed in the Ford parts book as the same as the 4 cyl clutch ---A,B, V8 ---till 34 ---the AAS,BB truck one looks the same (and will bolt up--if yuor leg is strong enough) but has more/stronger springs
A later flywheel will fit too---or yours can be machined to fit the later clutch |

Re: 1934 clutch and pressure plate
Walt, I have quite a few 59AB and 8BA flywheels, can I swap out the stock '34 flywheel for one of those and use the newer style 3-finger pressure plates ?

I was on their web site & they go way back to Model As. I just got off the phone with Donnie & he states their part #TT1523 is what you need. Best you give him a call tho & get straight from the him. |

Re: 1934 clutch and pressure plate
My 34 has a 36-40-style flywheel, and 9-in clutch. Never regretted the change.
The 34 clutch is available to anyone that wants it. I thought about taking the lip off, but never did. (BTW, 8BA flywheel = no. 59A = yes, but it's for 10-in. I'm unsure if this will clear in 34 trans. Someone else will comment.) Last edited by bobH; 01-13-2015 at 03:35 PM. |

Re: 1934 clutch and pressure plate
10 in will not clear inside the 33/4 housing, the weights will hit the bell housing as the weights move out,I know.

Re: 1934 clutch and pressure plate
The 32-34 style pressure plate is the "Borg & Beck". The 35 and up used the "Long" style. The later Long style has benefits of adding pressure to the clutch plate at higher RPM to prevent slippage, through the use of centrifugal weights.
