Where to Find Correct PSI Fuel Pump?

I've read and heard that the correct '33-'36 fuel pump should have a pressure of 2.5 to 3 PSI. I tested the pumps I have for my '34 and they ranged from 3.5 to 5 PSI. I have had some carb issues (leaks) that may be caused by a too high pump PSI. Where can I get fuel pumps with the correct PSI? Does any one rebuild them with the correct pressure. Happy V8ing, Mike

Buy a good low pressure regulator and gauge .
That's all you need!!

How did you check the out-put pressure? Did you put a gauge in between the fuel pump and the carb. I've been wanting to check miine, but so busy fixing other problems haven't got a round-tuit. When my new gas tank get's here maybe I can do that next, I think mine is too low or pump is bad. Al

I strongly suggest you send your pump to CharlieNY, here on the Barn. He'll build it to the proper pressure.
Yes, you could install a regulator but by your post, it sounds as if you prefer to do things correctly vs. installing a (regulator) bandage in-between.

Charlie is a great guy, does great work at a reasonable cost. You'll enjoy working with him...

I put a 0 to 5 Psi gauge between the fuel pump and the carb. Mike

If the pressure is too high add extra gaskets under pump and then when it or the cam wears remove them to raise pressure.

That trick would only lower the volume the pump can deliver...so with a gasket under the pump it will still deliver a to high pressure at idle or cruise when the demand for fuel is low and run out of fuel when accelerating or running hard...it´s the spring that sets the pressure.
Softer spring is what is needed for a lower pressure.

I had the same problem and fitted the oldest spring I could find into the new pump. That did the trick.

He did a great job on my'32 Plymouth PB fuel pump that you cannot buy anywhere even in core form very tough and also the Carter updraft carburetor rebuild.Car runs great now and good to be off electric fuel pump on the updraft.So he is not just good on solely Ford Flathead parts.

Coming in late here, but I second what Kube and others are trying to tell us. I have a 36 Phaeton that my Dad and I, with a lot of help from JM35, and others too many to list, did a bunch of work on. That car is a real kitten. It's got, as I can recall, a differential, transmission, carb, and fuel pump, and 37 steering, all done by Charlie Schwendler. I have had outstanding results both on the car, the transactions, and with the pieces he lays his hands onto.

On the fuel pump subject, I came across these this morning. The red wire-tie puts a smile on my face, cuz I know those are from Charlie NY.

PS I have a photo just like the one above, but from Hershey. One of my favorites. Good folks!

when you change your pump take the spring out put it in the new pump. why spend money for shipping back & forth plus labor it,s a simple task to change the spring
