Default 26-27 Coupe value

I picked up a load of parts today and this 26 0r 27 Coupe is sitting in the shed. No engine, radiator, radiator shell, headlights, headlight bar, seat springs or trunk lid. Nice body with no weak spots. The rear fenders and hood are there but not on the car but look ok. What kind of an offer would you give on the car? I know this is not much information but would like an idea since I am loading up the parts pile tomorrow and would like to make an offer on the car.

Thanks,
Pete

I would go a grand tops. It seems like the large majority of expensive parts are missing.

My engine builder just picked up a complete 26 touring car with a bad rear for $1500.

Thanks for the fast replies. I was thinking the $500-$800 range. Am I out of line?

Input from anyone else would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Pete

Look at it like its being parted out. If the steel is solid, body maybe 3-400. rolling chassis with wood wheels INCLUDING rims maybe 300, rear 26-27 coupe fenders if nice maybe 400 (!!) Nice doors maybe 200/each. Fill in the blanks on the misc. stuff... coupe spare mount with Y maybe 75-100. Bumpers, windshield, running boards etc etc etc???
If youre really feeling scrutinous, offer him 700 lbs of scrap value plus a 10 percent bonus. Look in the rafters for anything else to go with it!! I paid 700 for this chassis last August and made a few bucks off some parts I wasnt going to use. ws

ended up going through every nut and bolt and so far have this...

Just hauled out my first load of parts and looked at the car again. It also has a Ruckstell. Sounds like it he wants about 1200, nothing concrete yet.

It's all a matter of what you want ....according to Bill it is definitely worth 1200....I just like having stuff like that around to look at...it challenges my imagination..i would say give him what he want's for it!

Thanks for the input everyone. I appreciate it. I did buy the car today and am very happy with it. We also found the radiator and shell, the headlights and the headlight bar and a whole bunch of other stuff for the car. The seller and I were both happy with the price.

Thanks,
Pete

Bill,
The 800 is what I was thinking before I went back today. The offer I made was a little higher than that.
Looking forward to hauling it home and starting on it.

Pete

As long as yer good with it the burden of satisfaction lies with you. This aint a cloistered forum by any means and if you wanna keep it to yourself thats understood, but I always tell the HOLE (sp) truth so others have some fodder (YO MIKE!!) to compare apples to apples with.
You found all that other stuff so 1200 was a fair asking price. Was the trunk lid and parts there??? The next $100 you spend better be on a digital camera. For us and your journal (not to mention re-assembly!). Please post some pics once it hits daylight. I mean have the wife shooting pics coming out the barn door. Tell her youll take her for ice cream in the coupe in a little while!
This is what you can look forward to. A partially disassembled since 1950 barn find. Went throught from end to end and then sold it to a pal. He wants 6500 for it as is... needs interior work... ws

Sure there you go again. Pushing that coupe for your friend. Is he paying you a commission?

Good job Pete. And I really mean it when I say it. I'm in a goofy mood tonight and messin' with people but I really think you did a great job on that coupe for $800.00. If you can do the same kind of work on it that you did on the brass touring, I can't wait to see it.

OK, stupid newbie question (I'm a Model A guy). How come those tires on the pretty 26 coupe look so stumpy. What are those?

Because when Will built the car he didn't know any better. Haha. The tires on a '26-'27 Model T are 4.40/4.50 X 21" and prior Ts are 3 X 33.5" tires. I think the angle of the photo might make the tires actually look a little stumpy too. Everything about Will is Stumpy. Ok, now I have to quit giving Will a bad time. I gotta drive to his place on Sunday and I don't want him meeting me at the door with a M1 Garand chambered in 30.06. You've got to understand, his mind is every bit as twisted as it seems it is on this forum. I'm willing to go visit him but I've got a permit to carry and I will be armed when I get there. You can bank on that. LOL

Hauled the Coupe home on Friday and took it for a spin today. I installed an engine I had on hand. Never driven one with a Ruckstell, kind of neat. Not much need for it here is North Dakota, I have not found any hills to climb and do not know where to. Took it for an initial 2 mile drive by myself and then took my wife with for an 8 mile drive. I killed it twice in the first mile with the wife. (Don't ask why) Thank god she is willing to crank. Pain in the but to get in and out of with the park brake lever and the Ruckstell shift lever.

Thanks,
Pete

Great buy on that 26 Coupe! And with a Ruxtell too! I have attached a couple pictures of my 26 Coupe-it looked like yours before I started the restoration in 1980. This was my grandfather's work car-he was a painter and lived in Frankfort, SD not too terribly far from you. Drove it up until 1954 then parked it. Storing rock salt in the trunk did not do the sheet metal any good. Yours looks solid-keep her stock! (I think I might have stolen your thread....sorry about that but I get excited by 26 Coupes!)
