A little Marvel Mystery oil in the tank at fillup if its going to sit much. Definitely use premium no-alcohol gas if it is available in your area, it is here and I won't run anything else.

X 2, plus clean oil in the engine when it's stored.

My cars set for 6 to 7 months over road salt season, otherwise they get driven now and then during the summer. I don't drive just to be driving, but I would like to do some travelling to visit places I've never seen. I've never been to the west coast, and never driven along the east coast. I'd also like to do what's left of Route 66 before it's all gone.

Toms right about clean oil when storing. Along with that is when ever its started, and not going to be restarted soon, warm the engine up to temp plus some time. That helps evaporate moisture in the oil, ect that comes from combustion.

MM, Sea Foam are about the only things that could do some good that could be added to fuel.

I run Marvel Mystery Oil and a splash of generic lead substitute. All three of my A's seem to be happy thus far.

I was told not to add lead substitute because lead was not added to gas until the early 50's....does more harm then good

Actually gas had lead by the late 20's, but Model A's and most of our older cars do fine without it. The plugs last much longer and the oil stays cleaner.

From past experiences - I use Marvel Mystery Oil to all of my mechanical machinery. I add 3 or 4 oz. to my full tank of gas in my "A", add a bit to my pressure washer, generator, lawn mower, etc. and if I remember....we (my wife and I) add a couple of ounces to our Harley Davidsons. It seems to keep fuel machinery from deteriorating and helps to keep fuel from varnishing-up from long storage times.

MM oil is fine from all I have spoken with, However I always use ATF (Any kind) and it has always worked wonders as as fuel stabilizer, and wont vapor lock on hot days. Cheap and works. Does it get any better than that?

It should be available. If not, send me your address and I'll send you a case from the states. Wouldn't run an 'A' without it.

Ethyl Gasoline1.jpg

It says roughly: In 1927 approx. 14%of cars were high compression (5 to 1 or higher). By 1928 it was 56%. 1929 77%. Don't think Henry believed in lead.

Believe you are on to something as I read once where Tetra Ethyl Lead additive was developed at GM laboratories, and Mr. Ford hated paying royalties or supporting any of his competition in any way financially.

One reason Ford Benzol was developed plus it was a Ford by-product? Benzol was only available in the Detroit area. A Ford Benzol gasoline globe is a rare and very desirable collectible.

I routinely all Sta-bil to my gas tank after every fill up. I don't trust modern gasoline to remain stable while the car sits in the garage.
