Default Early 28 floorboards

I'm making a set of early 28 floorboards. Yes, made out of boards. Yet another thing I discovered is different in my AR. I'll bet the list of parts in common with later As is smaller than what isn't. Just happened to have a few maple boards in my hardwood stash. The boards turned out to be fiddleback. I'll bet that is what Henry used, maple not fiddleback. This is for early 28 open cab pickup.

I have the original e28 floorboards. At one point it looks like they were cut back, probably for a heater. When they were repaired, sheetmetal was used (possibly a road sign). They did take care and round the edges and actually did a very nice job. Then, they were left in the car during re-paint and got a lot of overspray. I likely will clean them up next winter.

How do you plan to finish your new floorboards? Black stain?

I'm thinking varnish. Looks like the originals were unfinished.

Mr. Bob,
One guy made him an EXTRA set of floorboards, using some BEAUTIFUL Pergo Flooring, I "think" he laminated it to some thin plywood??

I believe they were originally coated with a wood preservative like a varnish...

They were originally coated with a dark wood preservative-not paint.

My original floorboards from my 28 and early 29 were painted black and still have quite a bit of it. There is nice black paint under the edge webbing. There is also a couple runs in the black paint.

Vermins' RE-PRO??? floorboards are nice wood & varnished so superbly, that I think I may NOT even use my "DELUXE" carpet.

I used thinned out black paint for stain and then varnished them.
