4" Crank Question
When installing a 4" crank into a 59AB engine, does it matter which way the 8ba rods are installed? I think I remember someone posting that the rod numbers need to point to the outside of the engine or something. Any advice greatly appreciated.

Re: 4" Crank Question
If it has oil squirt passages, they will always go in toward the cam & cylinders. If it was numbered by FoMoCo the numbers will go toward the pan rail as you figured before and the squirt passages will be opposite the numbers.

Re: 4" Crank Question
Accually they will go either way. The 52-53 rods have an oil hole that squirt oil up to the cam and lower cyl wall, so should go in right. Usually the no. and the bearing locking lip are on the same side and should go in with the no. on the out side, and the oil hole faceing up. BUT, I have seen a few that that are marked wrong so pay attention. Walt
