Default What was mounted on my FIREWALL?

I have uncovered FIVE holes on the firewall that were filled with body filler...Does anyone know what could've been mounted there? Three across the top and two below, forming a W pattern. Lets' test your knowledge here and see if you know! thanks

Once again I am not able to upload a picture...this site sucks!

Pics would help a lot
What size are the holes 1/8 or 3/4

Just because you can't figure out how to load photos (when most others can) doesn't mean the site sucks, does it? Could it possibly be you? Did you try reading the Additional Options window? Did you click on Manage Attachments? Did you use the right type of file in the right size? Did you choose a file and click Upload? It really isn't that hard!

No, this sucks .

It could have been a:
Headlight relay,
Water type heater accessory,
Battery mount,
A fuse block,
a bracket for carrying oil or water can.

Most likely a battery tray. A lot of cars had the battery moved to the firewall many years ago. Some argue it should have been there all along, as it is most inconvenient to get at in the original location.

I've seen toolboxes mounted under the hood of more than one Model A. Battery box
is one of the more likely guesses, for sure!

Several years ago we ran an article in the Model A Times that showed a burglar alarm that attached to the firewall it could have been that.

If you try to post photos from your computer and have not downsized them, it will just hang up and not tell you why.
800 pixels wide is the largest it will take on thumbnails.

Is it your intention to find and reinstall whatever? I have a firewall that had 48 extra holes. Walk thru the auto parts store and select one of each!!

Three holes across the top and two beneath. The holes are inset and almost appear to have accepted a tapered secrew head. Nothing looks as if it mounted inside and the car was obviously painted after the holes were filled with filler. Any helpful suggestions appreciated. And YES i would like to reinstall what ever it was to take it back to the correct time period. To answer a simple question in advance I would ask the original owner but he passed away years ago.

Looks like bullet holes. Unfortunately many jerks used old cars for targets.

I'm not aware of any bullets that grind the inside lip off after they make impact. I understand they are NOT original but if the accessory is cool enough I want to locate one and install. The idea of a tool box or OIL/WATER/GAS cans is intriguing enough for me to persue a plausible answer

By the impact and various size of the holes and jagged edge, I would say someone saw that triangle formed by the 3 ribs and thought that would make a nice bullseye. Later someone put the car back in use and ground the flare off the rear and filled the holes with body putty. Just a wild guess.

Reminds me of that quote from 2001 space Oddysey "My God, it's full of stars" (lol)

That's not a firewall, it's a sieve to kep the larger engine parts from coming into the cabin in case of catastrophic failure

Judging by the rust and the size I wonder if it was for a battery which would put it close to the starter.

I'd guess a target.
