Re: Coupe and Cabriolet rear spare tire mount
Do you have the judging guidelines from MAFCA and MARC? On page 22-10, it shows the various rear mount spare tire carriers. From your pictures, it appears the black one is a 28 through early 29 sedan/phaeton carrier. The rust colored one is a little baffling as the part number on it appears to be A1883. Sedan and phaeton carriers are versions of A1383. The rust colored carrier looks to me as an early 30 sedan/phaeton carrier. If you don't have the JG's, I can take a photo of the page and post it for you to compare the pictures to your carriers. I don't know much about A180's so I am not sure what carriers fit them. I don't see A180's in the JG's. The carriers in your pictures are definitely NOT for coupes or cabriolets.

Re: Coupe and Cabriolet rear spare tire mount
OK,.....As close as I can come with the 2011 revision. The one on the left is
(black one) "1927-Sept. 1928", A-1380. The second one is "early 1930", A-1380-B. "Sedans & Phaetons*" " * Except 60-A,B,C and 160-A,B,C " |

I don't know what they are, but they probably all fit any Model A. But, I sure can tell when a car has the wrong one.

Re: Coupe and Cabriolet rear spare tire mount
Unfortunately the rusty carrier has been modified and welded on the lower wheel flange. It will still work on a car.
The 180-A is a Deluxe Phaeton (only two doors) and had no provision for a rear tire carrier. They all came from the factory with a left side mounted spare. Even if you wanted to modify the body to accept a rear spare I don't believe any original carrier would place the wheel at an appropriate angle without severe modifications.

Thought they have had A-180 with the rear mounted spare. Okay, then I try to get my rear mounts swapped for the correct ones. As I see on the site of the judging standards, Rusty Nelson sent to my email address, do the Coupes and the Cabriolets use the same mount. There is a number shown, so I have it lots easier to find the correct ones. Alex |

Re: Coupe and Cabriolet rear spare tire mount
The rear spare tire carrier for a '31 coupe has the number A-1426-B recessed in it. This based on two cars that I looked at. Should be the same for a '30 coupe.
