Re: peep mirrors dont fit
To be more helpful you could tell us what you are working on, who the supplier of the mirrors is, and in what way they don't fit.
I'm sure there are several suppliers of peep mirrors and maybe some fit and some don't.

Re: peep mirrors dont fit
I thought that "peep" mirrors screwed to the top lip of the door itself and hinge pin mirrors went on the brackets installed on the hinge. What am I missing?
These are peep mirrors. They screw on to the door not the hinge. This is a Ford hinge pin mirror. Which do you have? PP Last edited by Pomeroy41144; 04-28-2012 at 02:32 PM. |

Re: peep mirrors dont fit
Which are better? For seeing, not good looks.
I have the choice to make--hinge or peep. I don't like the idea of drilling a hole in my Ford Door. Do hinge pin mirrors go out of whack when you slam the door? How hard is it to drive the pin out of the door? I know about the hinge pin tool offered by various vendors makes it easier. Does it work? Pros and cons for both peep and hinge? |

Re: peep mirrors dont fit
I don't know personally, but have been told that the right side hinge pin mirror is not visible to the driver, so kind of useless.
The peep mirrors clamp to the door lip, you don't have to drill a hole. I have the convex peep mirrors and they work fine. |

Re: peep mirrors dont fit
Usually, it is very difficult to remove most door hinge pins. Avoid doing that as you will be opening a BIG can of worms if it doesn't go smoothly and easily.

Re: peep mirrors dont fit
Those hinge pin removal tools are not worth the metal they're made of. Don't waste your money. I bought one from Drakes and it is a piece of crap! The pin to push it out bend easily. I should have sent it back, but now it takes up space in my toolbox.

These are peep mirrors. They screw up the edge of the door not the hinge. There, fixed it for you. FWIW, I had a peep mirror on my '34 5-window coupe and all it was good for was eating up the paint on the door. Jim |

Re: peep mirrors dont fit
I bought a peep mirror for a car that's not on the road yet. Just trying it out to get the car in and out of the garage indicates to me that the main clamping part of the arm is made of genuine crappy steel. There are two set screws to clamp onto the door frame. Get one nice and snug and then go to snug up the other one. Surprise! The first one is now loose. Retighten the first and now, the second is loose. Tighten that one and wouldn't you know it- now the piece of steel that the screws go into is bent. Phooey....

Re: peep mirrors dont fit
The peep mirrors are just for looks. No matter how hard I try to adjust them, I still can't see out of them. I gonna try something different, just not sure what yet.

There is nothing wrong or obstructing the view of either hinge pin mirror. I have RHD and LHD vehicles and no problems with the mirrors on either. |

Re: peep mirrors dont fit
If you paid any attention to the original post and then the second post you put up you'd have found the solution. Try this and I promise never to answer any of your questions again.
Got mine on ebay. Here's the link: http://www.ebay.com/itm/CONVEX-4-PEE...26fbf7&vxp=mtr I had to buy a #4 metric 7 x 20 screw (Home depot or Lowes) to attach it to the hinge pin arm. Half the price of Mooneyes I'll also post this on the new thread you started. DUH |

Re: peep mirrors dont fit
I have hinge pin mirrors on my 34 & I used the v 46335 pull from Mac's & it worked very well ( of course I soaked the hinges for about a week adding pb blaster every day). I used the tool to install the pin also just put a piece of copper or something so you don't mark up the pin. not a fun job.

Re: peep mirrors dont fit
Like 31chevy says, soak the hinge pins real good with penetrent. I used CRC. Use a drift punch slightly smaller than the pin. Carefully tapping the punch with a good size hammer and it should come out. Mine are on a 32 bb, big truck. I bought the arms from Macs. On the right side I am using a 5" convex and can see quite well. I had peep mirrors on my 29 tudor, and was never satisfied.
