Default Vaporizer overhaul...

would like some pointers from the Ford Barn "T" folks on the vaporizer as I am waiting for several restoration/service manuals in the mail.

The current one is on a running power plant but needs to be cleaned up. I'm from the Stromberg/Flathead side of Ford Barn and new to the model T and any input would be great.

Hang the vaporizer on a wall as a decoration and get a Holley NH. That will solve your carb issues.

I had a vaporizer and it ran great. You just have to be smarter then the Vaporizer.

Mine ran fine but there I was power starved. The Holley was a noticeable improvement.

Nothing special needed.

There is a "plate" (http://www.snydersantiqueauto.com/vaporizer-plate) that I had to replace on mine one time when it started running bad. It made all the difference in the world!

To remove the vaporizer and replace with the NH you need a new exhaust and intake manifold. You will need different throttle and choke/air mixture rods as well. If your car is a factory original vaporizer, you may not have a hole in the block between #2 and #3 cylinders for the throttle rod to pass through.

My vaporizer worked great. Started and idled really nice. The only problem was I would run out of power at higher throttle settings. I think this is the nature of this manifold.
