Default 1950 f1 gas tank fitting

I am redoing a 50 f1, and there was no fitting on the bottom of the tank, only male threads. Is there a shut off, or a compression fitting supposed to be there. THANKS

On our '51 F-1 there is a "shut off" valve so you can stop the flow of fuel to the fuel pump.

Part number for the valve is 7HC 9189 and the reducer bushing is 353107-S which reduces the opening from 1/8 pipe to 1/4 inch. You can get the reducer thru Napa or others. Antique auto, Arlington , Texas has 8 of the valves in stock.Call 1-817-275-2381 and ask for Stacey, super nice gentleman.

I guess that would be a "factory anti-theft device".

You can stop the flow but in my experience, if you mess with the valve too much then it will start to leak a little.
