Default One rod journal question

My engine builder (reputable) called to tell me one of the four rod journals on my crank was previously turned down 30 thousandths, the rest still being stock size.
He said the limit is 40, and he would try to get them all the same at 40 thou.
He sounded kind of concerned. Is this a big deal?

On a stock T crank - .030 is maximum by most reputable crank grinder/engine builders.

I agree - .040 is getting thin. I'd look for a better crank you can have ground to .010 or .020 before the re-babbitting gets done.

Different crank would be better. I have lots of magnafluxed crankshafts, I can measure them and find you better one if you need one.
