Default 4-banger police head question

(Same question from HAMB, but thought you guys might be able to answer better)

My grandpa's Model A has a police head (he thinks). It is on his Model B engine. We're hoping someone can give us more information on it.
Such as, who made it (was it original Ford equipment)?
Does it give higher compression?
Was it only available at high altitudes?
What kind of horse power does it add?

Thanks for any insight you can give.

I'm no expert, but I have been told they are 5.2 to one. They seem to make both my cars peppy. One is on a fresh built A )touring) engine with counter weights, full oiling and inserts, so that one should be a bit more sporty, I would believe. No history on the other engine, but it has about 10 psi higher compression than my fresh rebuilt. All hole at 94 PSI. Hope this helps you
