Re: Insurance recommendations
I've used Hagerty for yrs. 4 claims, quick payment. Last time I put in a claim we hit a deer and totaled out front of our '41 Ford. appraiser was at out house within days , had 10K check in our hands within 2 wks.

Re: Insurance recommendations
I've used Grundy for 20+ years with no problems. Have had as many as 6 High end cars with them at once. Never had a claim so have no experience with that.

Re: Insurance recommendations
I have been using Hagerty for years and currently have seven cars and a trailer with them. I have never had a claim but have added and deleted many cars over the years and they have always been very easy to deal with that way.

Re: Insurance recommendations
Also remember that the various names cited are insurance agents, not the companies actually doing the insuring. In my case, nearly sixty years of complete satisfaction with J.C. Taylor.

Re: Insurance recommendations
Been with Hagerty many years, no claims. I pay 400.00 a year for my fleet of 4 jailbar trucks. I also add and delete with some regularity, but the best part is very high quality bi-monthly magazine.

Re: Insurance recommendations
I have had Grundy for years. Had two claims with them on my two '40 fords from earthquake damage. Adjuster promptly showed up gave an estimate and they sent me a check that covered the damage on both cars. They are now owned by Philadelphia Insurance Company. After they took over I did have one problem as they failed to notify the state of California that I had insurance on my cars. The state held up my registration tags. One call to Grundy and the problem was resolved quickly. I think their rates are very reasonable.

Re: Insurance recommendations
I had Condon & Skelly for over 30 years without a problem or a claim. I couldn't find anyone who had any experience in filing a claim with them, which made me kinda nervous. After a little research, I tried Hagerty, because they seemed to have a very good record servicing claims. I got a quote from them that was literally half of what I had been paying with C&S. I looked over the coverage for a couple of weeks, and when I couldn't find any deficiencies with Hagerty, I switched. So far, so good.

Re: Insurance recommendations
So, you guys that like your company but never had a claim...so the company was super good at invoicing you and accepting payment? I digress.

Re: Insurance recommendations
I cancelled my policy with Hagerty this year. Had them for over 20 years and then they tried to screw me.
Story in a nutshell: Bought policy for a quoted price. Added another car after a few years...price went up as expected. Went to cancel 2nd car after selling it....price went up again. Called to inquire why...they said because I lost my multi-car discount. Told them to go jump off a bridge and cancelled my policy. Yes, they jacked the rate after removing a car. Lost "multi-car discount"? Then why did my policy go up when I added the car, and went up even more when I removed it? They just kept repeating "multi-car discount", as if they had no ability to comprehend what I was asking. |

Re: Insurance recommendations
I use American Collector insurance. it's a stated value policy. One claim 20 years ago and they paid without any problems. If you can live with their restrictions, pleasure driving, parades, club functions, must be garaged, no restaurant parking and mileage limits it's very inexpensive.
If you are going to use your vehicle for everyday, I would go with something more conventional and not chance them rejecting a claim. |

Re: Insurance recommendations
Folks,
Was ready to push the button with Haggerty. I mentioned the truck would be used in my Business as a advertising unit. There was a pause on the other end and they very politely said Mr. Casbohm we won't be able to help you! I have coverage with Erie insurance which also has all my other vehicles and toys. Regards, Chris

Re: Insurance recommendations
with Hagerty your collector car can not be your daily driver. also I believe you must have a daily driver car listed with them

You missed the point entirely. The price went up when I added the second car. The price then went up again when I removed it. That makes sense to you? |

Re: Insurance recommendations
I'm sure several of the companies are like this but State Farm refused to insure my 51 Crosley Super Sports unless I restored it. I told the lady not while I own it. At that time I had insured most of my antique cars with them for over 35 years. Needless to say I no longer have insurance with them Switched all antique cars to Grundy.

Re: Insurance recommendations
I had three decent size claims with Grundy with excellent service. Been a customer for 34 years.
