strange front brake wedge
assembling the front brakes on a '31 "A"
The front brake wedge stud has "wings" on it I cannot find this in any books. not a bad idea but the cotter key for the roller pin will wear out. leave it, cut them off, get a new wedge stud? any help? Greg |

Re: strange front brake wedge
I've seen those once before. I've just assumed they were an aftermarket replacement intended to take over for worn tracks by reversing the roller pins.

Re: strange front brake wedge
I have never seen these, but my guess would be, they are some aftermarket quick fix for replacing the roller tracks. I think you would have to reverse the roller pins with the cotter pin to the inside.
The Flathead Ted's kit uses a lower plate mounted in the same manner to eliminate the use of the roller tracks on the front brakes.

Re: strange front brake wedge
aftermarket was my thought also.
Are they rare enough to keep or just cut off the ears. The tracks on the backing plate have already been built up. |
