Fabricating spark plug wires
Can I use bulk resistance modern style spark plug wire to replace the old solid wire spark plug wires that were in my truck when I got it? Will the original coil work for this?

Re: Fabricating spark plug wires
Thanks! That saves me a little cash since I have spool of ignition wire that would be laying around gathering dust otherwise.

What are the good points of packard wires vs modern spark plug wire?

Re: Fabricating spark plug wires
I wouldn't use carbon resistance wire, --too much work for it's lifespan, but the wire wound stuff can last a long time.

Re: Fabricating spark plug wires
Yup. Worked great.
Brendan, Yes resistance wires were developed for radio static. Not really an issue to me because my truck doesn't have a radio. The reason I went with resistance wires was because I had a box of resistance wire, boots, and ends that were on the shelf of my shop when I bought the place. Saved me some money. |
