Post Is Slip Plate Enough?

I have my rear spring ready to go back together and was trying to choose between a dry lubricant like slip plate or a wet grease. I like the idea of slip plate but will it last? Since I had to clean the old grease between the 80 year old spring I know it lasted.

i prefer grease, i wont live long enough to grease them again, the slip plates are nice if you dont want to get greasey, but they do change spring ride highth a little, and unless you have the bands holding the springs in line they tend to slip side ways and stick out from the springs

There is also a similar graphite product available that can be painted on. Puts down a nice thick layer.

I completed cleaning up the spring I am going to use and started painting it today. I am going to use Step Plate another buddy of mine in our local club is going to use powdercoated springs with the vinyl strips between the springs on his car. This way we can get a real comparison.
I will tell you that in working with the Step Plate I have learned a couple of things.
1. The spray can version is easy to use and for small projects I would recommend it.
2. For best coverage I do recommend you use the quart can and a 3 inch roller. You get much better coverage. They tell you to mix the product up before using it. If your like me and you just shake the quart container be careful when opening it up as it acts like a shaken up bottle of pop. Stirring is much better.

Once you have a coat or two on the springs you get the idea of how it works. It leaves a very slick dry surface on the spring.
