Luggage racks are they for a Model A?
These two luggage racks came with my 30 Model A Town Sedan. Are they for a Model A or some other car. I assume they were produced by an aftermarket company and not Ford. I did not measure them but I guess about 26" wide X about 12" deep. They fold down and look like they would hang on a rear mounted Spare tire. There are slots in the rack frame to accept leather straps to attach to the tire. They fold up. There also were two of the running board expandable luggage racks included. Am I thinking correctly? If anyone has any idea or information I would appreciate it.
Was there any rear mounted luggage racks that were 36 inches long X 14 inches deep for the Model A's. I have a trunk with those measurements I would like to use. There is enough space between the tail lights for it to fit. Thanks for any information. Last edited by 1928 Sport Coupe; 01-01-2023 at 02:34 AM. |

Re: Luggage racks are they for a Model A?
Yes, they are/were an aftermarket manufactured universal rack sold by stores such as Western Auto, Montgomery Wards, Sears Roebuck, et/al. They are a neat accessory and are handy for those overnight road trips. While you have yours mounted on the sidemount, I'm sure you realize the intent is for a rear mounted spare. I have one that still has the factory Black paint in it. Good fun conversational accessory.
