How to lubricate a speedometer
Can someone refer me to a technical article or video on the how-to's of lubricaating a speedometer cable? I've read several posts about the type of lubricant to use, but I am at a much more basic point having never done this before -- and wanting to do it correctly.
Thanks! [email protected] |

Re: How to lubricate a speedometer
I was glad to see this question, and even more happy to see some answers. It is a question that I have had in the back of my mind for a good many years, but never got around to being 'pushed' to find an answer. Thanks for posting the question.

Re: How to lubricate a speedometer
A few years back, Roger Kauffman, who was the tech editor for MARC had a method he published in the magazine...look it up.
Basically, remove the cable from the housing, Pour a small amount of STP in a plastic pan, coil the cable in the pan, let it soak. Remove the cable and hang it from a stepladder and allow the excess to drip back into the pan overnight. Reinstall cable...you're good for years of quiet operation. |
