Default 1957 Ford front bumper splash pan color?

On the 1957 Ford, there is a splash pan located between the front bumper and the grill. The top side is painted silver argent. What factory color is the bottom side of the splash pan suppose to be painted? Thank you for any help.

The one that is on my Ranchero is red oxide, (San Diego car), the one I pulled off a parted car was argent with the moss green over spray, (Dallas car), and the 2 Dr Ht was red oxide and rust, (Dallas car also).

my guess would be primer {red oxide} finish of the underside was''nt that important back in the day if you are refinishing it i would go with an epoxy primer as that would seal it also

Typically, splash pans for the front end were Ford's Argent Silver - this had been done in 1955-1956 and probably '52-'54, and continued through '59 on cars. Need confirmation on '49-'51 if the panels were body color or argent.

Thank you for the paint color advice. Since I have to take the front bumper splash pan off to paint all of it and my paint spray gun will be full of argent silver, I will paint both sides with argent silver. Our project car is below. Almost finished to perfection.

Today on the 1957 front bumper to grill "splash pan", I stripped the repaint of black chassis paint from its bottom side. Under it was a worn thin coat of argent silver.. Under that was a coat of red oxide that was not much thicker. Looks like I am safe with the final color of argent silver on the bottom of the splash pan. Tomorrow it will happen. Thank you for the help on the Barn.
