Door panel clips
I'm placing my door panels back in my 36 Tudor and purchased new panel clips since many of the original ones were missing or bent.
I tried putting panel on door, but the clips will not compress small enough to fit into hole. I found an original clip and they are totally different. The original one compresses down to fit through hole. Can I bend new clips to get them to compress so they fit into holes or who supplies panel clips that work? Thanks! |

Re: Door panel clips
Checked Roy's web site and did not locate clips for door panels. Will call on Tuesday and check.
Thanks! |

Re: Door panel clips
These are W&E clips. The part numbers and size hole to drill for them. Your original clips may not be the originals. The stock clips should look more like the ones you received as replacements. Your originals have a shoulder before the clip hooks in the hole. This is usually for when the surface of the hole is deeper than the outer edge of the door. The newer replacement clips require a larger hole than the good old Ford originals. I use ones similar to your new ones on all old Fords (the #1213 above) and drill out the holes to 21/64". You just need to drill out the holes to 21/64". Maybe try it on a scrap piece of sheetmetal first. You may have to experiment with the size. 21/64 works well with the W&Es/ Hope this helps. |
