Can anyone tell me what parts and years will interchange to and from a 1941 ford car.

Your going to have to be more specific. 41 is an odd year and a lot of parts are one year only, some parts will fit many years. The gas and oil would probably work in your daily...

Phil, you will get back what you put in on this forum. I could sit down and spend a week writing a book on 1941 Ford interchangeability.

Tell us what exactly you are thinking of doing or want to find out and the good members of this forum will do their best to help.

Mart.

Being from Villisca you are probably handy with an axe, right? Most anything could be made to fit then.

Seriously, a lot of later stuff fits, some earlier stuff fits, much is only 1941. If you can be more specific which part you mean, the answer will be given within a day (maybe an hour).

Yes very handy with an axe LOL. Center chrome on the hood. interior door panel molding. Left side arm rest. Radio blank. Is the 42 grille the same as the 41. For a start.
Thanks for any help Phil

The 1941 passenger car grill with the three pieces is unique. The front fenders had two or three engineering changes during the 1941 production year. The V8 engine block had a mild redesign for 1941. The new G-series 6-cylinder made its debut in 1941 with the 1/2 ton commercial being mid year due to the use of the earlier 1940 frame at the start of the initial production for pickups. The 9N powered 4-cylinder pickup was a one year only failure. 1941 was a major change year with the following year of 1942 being a redesign or correction year for easier and faster production of a similar model.

The 1942 design was very different in a lot of ways and was the basis for all the post war passenger cars. The pickups changed very little from 1942 to post war since the G8T trucks were manufactured throughout the war and used the same type cab.

As a lifetime cabimetmaker and a lifetime old ford truck guy, the most important change in the postwar pickups was the increase in track width and consequently in bed width. For 11 years I was a cabinetmaker running a '38 tonner express that had 46 1/2" between the bedsides. I was buying units of 32 sheets of 3/4" plywood and delivering finished cabinets at 24" wide. Loved the fore and aft leaf springs change too. As usual, I'm rambling......

Like what was said before, the '41 was a one off yr. That said the basic body is shared with '41-48. "Most" ancilliary parts will fit most yr to yr that doesn't mean they go together. From cowl back, on the body, most any '41-48' ford basically are the same. Will a '46 rear fender "fit" on a '41. sure, but there are differences. Interiors are "pretty much" the same. "41 dash is one off I believe. Like was said, if you have time, anything can be made to fit.

'41 radio delete is unique as is the hood centerline trim.

Door arm rest metal pieces look the same for many years, at least to me.

Great answer... I can weld a Mercedes, rolls, or s10 to a 41 ford. Both might be free to me but doesn't mean when I'm done it's worth anything. Fun yes. and sometime worth it too

The 1941 car bodies are similar at best. They don't have much of anything that will work well with 21A and later car bodies. The frame was different too. The 1941 model year was the last year to used the narrow rear axle and it is evident that they were developing a rear panhard track bar but they didn't implement it till 1942 with the wider rear axle.

"similar at best". If you had a '41 fordor bare body, which was the original question, and you wanted to fit rear fenders, front complete sheet metal, doors
and running boards from a '42-'48 I bet they would all fit. maybe mounting points to the frame would not be correct, match up from running boards to fenders would be off a bit but they would all fit.
