Re: Flathead Gas Mileage
The only time I really checked the mileage was on the NE tour. I was getting 16 -18 MPG over that week end. That was with one functional carb on a Offy regular dual. The back carb was blocked during that run. It needed attention so I blocked it off to go on the run. It was a primary secondary set up. I have since rebuilt and re-jetted both carbs. The linkage is now true dual. All the idle problems I had before went away. I am now at 47 jets(Kenct's recommendation) and 3.5 PVs in both. Power and response is very good and the plugs look good. I have not done any mileage calulations with this setup yet but I think it will be somewhere around 14 -15.

Re: Flathead Gas Mileage
I just put 200 miles on my almost bone stock 49 with V8 and overdrive going to the Washington State flathead reliability run and got slightly over 20mpg. I drove at a steady 65 mph. I do have headers and dual exhaust.
