Default Please help me ID this car

Hi there!

I'm helping out a widow who's husband died recently. He left this car in an abandoned corner of this property and she would like to get rid of it.

Here are some pictures:
https://www.dropbox.com/sh/8twvjkrzkklqnla/NODlbA-G61

What is this car? We know it's an old Ford Roadster.. Model A or B?
Is this thing worth anything?
Any tips on how to sell it? Ebay? Craigslist? Give to a scrap metal dealer?

Thanks for any help you can offer!!

I am seeing a Ford truck, not a roadster, maybe you gave us the wrong pic's. Nice truch though. If I had room, time and money it would be alot of fun to restore. Rod

Looks like it was set up to run on propane or coal gas. That truck would sell to many rodders or restorers.

Definitely do not give it to a scrap dealer. The truck has value, maybe between $1000 and $3000, depending on several factors like rustout, whether the engine turns over, your location (which is where, by the way?), and what's there and isn't there. I'm not a V-8 guy, but it looks like it's a '32 (though the headlights look like Model A), which would make much of it very desirable. I would suggest you find a local V-8 club and make contact with the members for close-up hands-on advice.

Wow! Thanks for all the quick help. The pictures are correct, I was just guessing that it was a roadster.

We're located in the Santa Cruz Mountains, near San Jose, the Bay Area, in Central California.

Anyone have suggestions of clubs in our area?

Thanks!

Tom, I think that is the later flathead Merc carb. Definately not the original engine to the truck, waterpumps are in the block, not in the heads. Rod

Definately not in my area, but several on here are close. I think it is a 32 truck judging by the grille, but could be 33-34 also, those all looked real close to the same. The 33-34 truck will have a grille simular to the 32 car, but will have 2 crank holes at the bottom. Rod

Just the grille, alone, is going to be worth $300.00-$400.00. Don't let anyone talk you out of it for scrap pricing. Undamaged ones are really scarce, nowdays.

If it's a '32, then would it be a BB ?

Certainly looks salvageable !

Cab alone will bring $800++, light bar and headlights are decent sellers also, likely $250+ for the bar and the lights. Hard to tell much about the engine other than it was replaced, but if that is the Mercury carb I think it might be then the engine might be Mercury also. The engine could bring $300+. Rod

It's a '33, judging from the cab (integral firewall and two mouldings around the back), hood grille she,ll, and headlamps and headlamp bar.

It's a 1933 cab with a '34 grill no doubt. don't let it get away too cheap. Contact Joe Davis with ARIES Restorations, he is located up along Skyline Hwy 9. You can also search him on this site. He can see the truck in person and try to give you a reasonable estimate of what you have and how you can sell it. On his site, ARIES, you'll see a '33 panel delivery similar to the front end of this that he restored.

Thanks, I was thinking it might be the later merc carb abd that was a rigged up airfilter. Sometimes I am right, sometimes I am wrong, but always trying. Rod

That is a '34 grille as stated earlier; it has stainless around the bars, '33 did not. To my eye the head light lenses look flat, with no crown. The bar is correct but looks like someone fitted '30-'31 Model A lamps to it. The '32 commercial bar had a high crown and the lamps are very high in relation to the grille. '33 & '34 bars are flatter and as a result the bottom of the lamps are lower than the bar. Lamps pictured are high, you can almost see the bar.

It appears to be a '32/'33. If the firewall bolts into the body it is a '32. If it is welded in it is a '33.
