Mallory distributor
acquired a vintage mallory dual point dizzy today, marked model ZC, Type 275 A, I know it is for an 8BA or 8CM as it has the extra shaft extension, my question is--are points-condensor-rotor-cap still available, althought it looks in pretty good condition in the future it may need these parts if I want to use it or is it just "wall art"?? Something Bubba could bring back to life?

Re: Mallory distributor
I sent mine to Bubba about a year ago and he went through it and re-did it. The price was quite reasonable. As for parts, I got lucky and found a good cap on eBay for $45.00. Lately, however, the guys with caps seem to want $200-$300 for used ones. There was a NOS Mallory listed for $1595; I didn't even add it to my "watch list".

Re: Mallory distributor
I believe most everything for that distributor is still available although they can be a bit pricey. I saw a NOS cap on Ebay for about $160 and other suppliers have points, condenser, rotor, etc.

Re: Mallory distributor
See what number is on the points sets. If it's 24205, they are extremely hard to find and pricey.

Re: Mallory distributor
I've been searching E-Bay for them for a long time. Have not found any yet. I like Bubba's post. Will be contacting him.

Re: Mallory distributor
I run them old Mallory’s in a few motors.
I pick up complete ones for 20 - 40 bucks at swap meets just for parts because they all use the same caps - rotors …………. |

Quote:
The 24875 contacts are the most common units for the Mallory YC distributor.. Typically all these need is a good clean up inside and out. The inside gets gummed up ( even on a new one in the box). We clean the parts in a ultra sonic cleaner and relube and most are ready to run... |
