Re: What make of car?????
In my opinion it is a 1914 or an early '15 Studebaker. Couple things that helps date it is it is LH drive and has electric lamps.

Re: What make of car?????
The divided windshield, flat cowl with RH filler neck, radiator shell shape with rectangular badge thats mostly covered by the license plate, headlite bar and mounting, fenders and front axle.. It sure isn't something I'm familiar with and it'll be great if it can be figured out..

Re: What make of car?????
I just can't find any pictures that show the things that would match up with everything in the picture.. The pics I have found or looked at just don't look right.. This is becoming an obsession.. I'll keep trying,, but,, so far I've looked everywhere I could think of..
I've got time as I don't have much of a life right now.. I'm waiting for something to go to work so I'm not moving far from the bathroom.. Their going to try and find my head tomorrow,, its been in a dark place lately.. |

Re: What make of car?????
To me this looks like it has a large, flat firewall/cowl front as opposed to a tapered cowl. Also note the apron below the radiator and a VERY unique shape to the front axle. Most vehicles of the period have a front axle much like the Studebaker front axle.

Re: What make of car?????
I think it's a 1913/14 Paige, see pictures, not exactly the same but very close, same axle, filler neck, windshield and brackets, apron below radiator, maybe different model or year.

Re: What make of car?????
I also think it is a 1913 Paige-Detroit 25 or 36, their advertising for 1914 mentions the smoother cowl transition seen in the photos above. I suspect that the radiator core had already been replaced (and the Paige logo tossed) when this photo was taken ~1917.
The real mystery is the characters in the photo, are they preparing to go somewhere with those maypop tires or have they snuck away to that old junker by the barn for a snog and to hoist a few to a departed relative (Dad, or a horse, a dog, or a cat)? |

Re: What make of car?????
I'm thoroughly convinced you hit it! I haven't been able to identify the exact model yet. For 1913 all models of the "36" had lamps embedded in the cowl as standard which clearly are not there in Jim's pic so it leads me to think it's the smaller "25". Some open models have the windshield hinged as shown but others don't.

Re: What make of car?????
I don't think it's as new as 1915, that year the slightly veed radiator appeared.
Another photo, Crouse Irving Hospital Paige ambulance, same radiator filler neck and cap, apron, only difference is the firewall with side lights and double hinged windshield. Could the firewall board with side lights, have been removed from the mystery car?

Re: What make of car?????
It is possible that the perspective of the photo permitted the headlights to precisely obscure the firewall lights. The camera was probably on a tripod and one other WAG is that the fellow peering around the side is the photographer.

Re: What make of car?????
I studied that closely and don't see it being possible.
