6,000 Original Mile \'36 Club Cabriolet
I was tooling around the internet early this week and stumbled upon something you don't see everyday. How about a '36 Ford Club Cabriolet with 6000 original miles? To read the rest of this blog entry from The Ford Barn, click here. |

Interesting car, wonder why they put the 37 emblem on the grill?

Hmmm.... If it really has 6000 original why does it have repo Argentina running boards (produced in late 80s and sold by J.C. Whitney).

Maybe I'm being to picky, but then again, my '36 has 139k on it and the body fitment is much better..

The price is $40k. They say all original except the hood ornament. The original one was broken. It's a cabriolet with a back seat not a rumble seat.

Double Hmmm.... Lots of changes for that sort of mileage. I'm not sure that the exterior color conforms with the colors offered in the '36 model year, including the Easter colors. Nice looking underbody, for sure.

Paint color seems to change at hood/cowl line, as in possible front end accident/re-paint. DD

What is an original mile anyway? Can you get new old stock miles? How much are they?
I think Drake should reproduce miles. Would a USA mile be better than a mile from China? |

It is possible it had an accident, but remember, the fitment of the old Fords was not all that good in the beginning. If the paint is as old as the car, it has probably discolored some over the years.

Re: 6,000 Original Mile \'36 Club Cabriolet
In 1976 I saw a 1940 Deluxe Coupe in Ed Winfield's garage in Las Vegas that had about 40,000 miles on it. Everything fit perfectly. But this was a car with original factory leather interior that was at the 1939 auto show in San Francisco. Winfield bought it at the show for his wife.
Kong Jackson bought it and drove it home to Glendale the next day. It still smelled new inside. I will not say what Kong paid. He said not to. A few years later my dad bought a 37 Standard Coupe with 38K miles and almost perfect. Fit was excellent. Both cars mentioned did not have the original miles on it. They came from Montgomery Ward as replacement miles Tim |

Vic, to add to what you were asking, didn't that particular coupe also have a mechanical tach and dual exhaust?

We jumped it and it started right up. Kong and Ed tweaked it a bit and Ed offered it to Kong for a sweet deal. Kong used to sweep floors for Winfield when he as a little kid. Winfield liked Kong a lot and that is why the price was so low. Why do you think Kong was so smart? That 40 ran like a top. Here is from left to right Kong, Winfield and myself checking out my B engine with Cook four port. Two Winfield carbs on the left side It was neat getting advice from Winfield. I wonder what ever happened to that Kong prototype ignition. Notice the four cylinder GM cap Tim |

Re: 6,000 Original Mile \'36 Club Cabriolet
A friend found a 1935 Cabriolet in the late 1960's with around 5,000 miles on it, I drove it around last year and added about five to the current 10,000 or so miles on it. Bob

Re: 6,000 Original Mile \'36 Club Cabriolet
In the attached pix you can see how a grille, etc. fits on a car that has never been in an accident. The hood and radiator have been off for engine replacement, the grille shell has never been touched.. The car has been repainted once, black over the original black..
