Default Radiator Shroud

Has anyone tried using one of these radiator shrouds on a 36 passenger radiator? How well did it work to help cooling?

James some of these old Fords are hard to fit a shroud to. The 36 has the fan buried up in the top tank on most plus the distributor is hard enough to get to. I have one on my39 P/U that along with Skips pumps and a 6 blade industrial fan really cools it great. Won't get to 80 at a fast idle for 2 hours on a 100 degree day. Look in the Ford parts books, some are shown in them. G.M.

Mate its kinda hard to explain Mine , I don't use a shourd , my rad and fan is incased in a metal armourd box and on either side, botton and top all seams are coverd in heavy felt, so my box acts like a shourd , BIGGER fan will do the trick!. Cheers laddy! BIG MIKE

Hi James, I found it helpful to block / seal the area between the open top of the grille & the top tank of the radiator. Basically it means ALL of the air coming through the grille has to pass through the radiator. I used a section of "conveyer belt" rubber which overlaps in the centre. Perhaps not the prettiest solution but cheap & effective.

Are you sure that you will need a shroud? A 36 radiator is huge .
I have a 36 w/8BA that previous owner put electric fan in. I don't
want to take the grill off to remove it yet. Last summer I removed the
stock fan from the generator and found that I hardly ever had to run the electric fan, never when moving.

Brian,

I am not sure if I will need a shroud. I am in the process of putting my original 21stud motor back in the Car. I had skip rebuild the water pumps, I purchased the 3lb valve, got a new radiator cap and the radiator was recorded. I will be running the original generator and fan. Having read so many posts on here about overheating I am just trying to put together the best combination of preventative measures. I also purchased gageteers thermostats.
When I get it all back together,in the car and running I will post my results.
