Portland, Oregon Swap Meet...
Anyone find any goodies during this event while you were there?
Craig Lewis...How did you do? Looks a little wet down that way as it is here in the middle of Walla Walla County but that does not stop a Model A'er in hot pursuit of that special item needed to complete his or her restoration. Pluck Last edited by Steve Plucker; 04-06-2013 at 10:33 AM. |

I didn't even go. Slogging around in the rain outside, or fighting the crowds inside, because it's raining outside, is not my idea of fun. Thought they should have changed the date of that meet 40 years ago.

Re: Portland, Oregon Swap Meet...
Picked up a set of tires for my current project from Coker then found a set of tires mounted on nice rims (16" painted "straw") which will also fit the current project. Also bought a cool gas tank from a rototiller, a small oil-bath air filter, a pair of '40s Chevy truck shocks, a set of '36 pedals and some other miscellaneous for the project.
PS: Project is a street-legal Belly Tank Lakester with a V8-60! PS PS: Enjoyed meeting dennison1957 to deliver some really nice license plates!

Portland was great...but then again I'm one of them dummies who think all swap meets are great. Even if one item gets checked off my list...that makes it a winner! Wednesday was the race track , the sky opened up a couple times between drizzles but most of the vendors had tents set up..so no real problem. ...found a 31 cowl band laying in the grass that looked rusty. Upon closer inspection it was just a coat of old flaky brown paint. A slight twist, but no sharp dents so I think this will be the one I restore. The star of the show was an original (rough shape) folding jack handle. That's something I've been hunting for, for many many yrs, and it was right out there on a table.....couldn't believe my luck $2xx I found the rest of my body mounting bolts(special fine thread) and now have a complete set. Also a slant pole coil (except I need the straight pole, anybody wanna trade?) I couldn't resist buying a few nice quality old tools including a real sweet old mushroom dolly that'll be perfect for fender work. Also stumbled across a speedo for my buddy's 65 VW bus and scored a couple old tins for the shelf. I found a pair of leather seats for my F150 and that's been at least 3 yrs of steady hunting with duct tape recently added to my crappy cloth seats so that was good to find. And finally...there's some strange things that show up at swap meets...but can you believe someone brought along a heart defibrillator? I was looking for a little boast ....this really picked me up |

Hey Jay, you spent more on parking ($10) and admission ($7) then that sausage. I drove from Spokane and ended up with nothing but a long drive.
