Pressure Plate Opinions
I need a 10" pressure plate for my flathead with a T5. Two possible sources are a new one from Speedway and having my old one rebuilt by Ft Wayne clutch. I have heard good and bad about both sources.
Any opinions? Are there better sources? I hate a chattering clutch. Many thanks to all,...jack

Re: Pressure Plate Opinions
I think chattering is usually caused by contamination of the disc. Usually from grease or oil. I have found regardless where you buy your parts there are going to be good and bad. I just got a clutch kit from Ft Wayne and very happy with them and it

Re: Pressure Plate Opinions
You don't mention what kind of a car you have, but I replaced the clutch on my "shoebox" several years ago and the clutch still chattered (it was better, but not completely fixed). I finally eliminated all of the chatter by replacing the motor mounts

I am aware other factors can cause chattering. Such as faulty motor mounts and sloppy clutch linkage, glazed flywheel, disc, etc. I am trying to avoid problems i can't fix - such as unbalanced pressure on the pressure plate.

Re: Pressure Plate Opinions
I'd be wondering if you have a disc for the T-5 spline since that can make a difference too. Select a PP that fits the disk size. I haven'y had any troubles with Ft Wayne Clutch yet. There are even some diaphragm type pressure plates that can be made to work with the right fingers.
